Quality: Others Say It; We Mean It
When you build with Shaw Homes, your own personal builder will meet with you to explain our building procedures and provide you with a construction schedule. Then, at scheduled meetings or if you have a concern, we’ll meet with you to review progress and answer your questions.
Previous Step Next Step
Step 1. Construction Planning and Review Sessions
The Plan Review meeting with you and your personal builder helps to avoid misunderstandings and mistakes.
Review sessions at the framing and pre-closing stages help to answer construction questions and highlight the quality of your home.
Step 2. Foundation
Elevated pad height insures proper drainage away from the home and reduces the chance of water related problems in the years to come.
An engineered post tension slab ties all of your concrete together and protects against costly structural problems.
Step 3. Framing
Studs spaced 16” apart give the walls excellent strength and support the engineered floor trusses used for the upper level floors.
Tongue and groove plywood is glued and nailed to these floor trusses eliminating squeaks in your upper floor system.
Earthwise vinyl windows with argon gas and low-e coating include a 20 year warranty and provide ease of operation and long-term value.
Step 4. Exterior
Using a high percentage of brick and/or stone wall coverage provides aesthetic appeal, added strength and safety, and long term value to your home.
Dupont Tyvek® house wrap protects your home against moisture infiltration. Hardboard siding reduces chipping and splitting and comes primed to protect the wood. Quality caulking around windows and doors reduces air penetration.
High quality Pittsburg® brand paint seals exterior surfaces and adds durability to your home.
Step 5. Mechanical
Cable television and telephone wiring is done with heavy gauge wire capable of supporting a satellite system and multiple telephone lines.
Numerous recessed lights provide a rich feel and excellent lighting. Ground fault circuit interrupters protect your family against electrical hazards.
Carrier® brand heat and air conditioning equipment provides unsurpassed quality, reliability and energy efficiency.
Overhead ductwork allows for uninhibited furniture placement and cleaner air flow.
Warsbo® brand PEX piping resists freezing and quality Moen® faucets operate flawlessly for years.
Our quick recovery A.O. Smith® gas water heaters provide excellent service and value.
Step 6. Interior
Smaller wall texture provides a more eloquent, smooth wall look. Smooth colonial Masonite® doors provide an excellent look and feel.
High quality Pittsburg® brand paints and lacquers resists chipping and fading and our latex paints provide excellent coverage and touch up.
Included features like maple or alder kitchen cabinets enhance the beauty of your kitchen.
Step 7. Flooring
Shaw Homes does not use cheap linoleum flooring. We provide durable ceramic tile flooring in the entry, kitchen, nook, utility room and bathrooms.
Traffic patterns are reduced and life is added to your carpet because of our higher carpeting allowances.
Site finished real oak hardwood flooring is offered as an added feature on many plans.
Step 8. Finishing Touches
Upgraded appliances include self cleaning ovens and other nice features.
A pre-wired security system with motion detectors offers protection for your most precious possessions.
Ceramic tile backsplashes improves the look and durability of you kitchen.
